Our athletes spent months preparing for this big day. Under the experienced guidance of our department head and passionate triathlete Dr. Oliver Hein, they were coached, motivated, and got into top shape for weeks. Dr. Hein not only created training plans, but also provided advice and support to prepare each individual optimally for the challenges of the marathon.
Our team consisted of a great mix of talents and personalities:
• Benjamin, student at the University of Landshut (engineering education), who tackled the full marathon distance.
• Lea, our dedicated 20-year-old student assistant at the ZHS, who competed in the half marathon and put in an impressive performance.
• Julian, 30 years old and a phd student at the University of Freising, who also tackled the marathon distance.
• Mountaineer Till, 21 years old and a student in Landshut, who transferred his endurance and mental strength from mountaineering to running.
• Sonja, a student and one of our valued ZHS trainers, who enriched the team with her experience and enthusiasm.
• Meggie, a law student and experienced marathon runner, who nevertheless benefited greatly from the professional preparation and approached training with her motto “no half measures!”
• Shabnam, 39 years old and passionate about running. She had been preparing for the marathon for a year. Her goal was “to cross the finish line with joy”. And she succeeded brilliantly.
The atmosphere along the route was simply phenomenal! Thousands of spectators cheered on the runners, and the energy was palpable. It was particularly exciting for us that the marathon route passed right by the ZHS – it felt like a real home game! Our team was visibly excited, but also incredibly motivated to cross the finish line.
And what can we say? Every single one of them made it! With beaming faces and an incredible sense of pride, all six successfully reached the finish line. It was a unique experience that brought not only athletic excellence, but also unforgettable moments of community and personal triumph.
We congratulate Benjamin, Lea, Julian, Till, Sonja, Shabnam and Meggie from the bottom of our hearts on this great achievement! It fills us with joy to see how each of them was able to reach their personal goal. You are an inspiration to us all and have represented ZHS with dignity!
We are already looking forward to the next Munich Marathon and are excited to be back at the starting line with another strong team!
