ZHS Hochschulbuam Are German University Champions 2026
On June 27 and 28, 2026, the best university basketball teams from across Germany met in Berlin to compete for the German University Championship title. The ZHS Hochschulbuam from Munich delivered an outstanding team performance and deservedly crowned themselves German University Champions 2026.
The Munich team already impressed in the group stage. With strong defense, fast transition play and excellent team spirit, the Hochschulbuam secured victories against the teams from Göttingen and Münster and confidently advanced to the knockout stage.
Composure in the Semifinal
In the semifinal, the Munich team faced a tough opponent in Tübingen. In an intense and closely contested game, the Hochschulbuam showed great composure and kept their focus when it mattered most. With a hard-fought victory, they booked their place in the final.
The final brought another clash with Münster. The Münster team put in a strong performance and challenged the Munich side until the very end. However, the Hochschulbuam maintained their lead and held on to secure the decisive victory.
The result: The ZHS Hochschulbuam are the German University Champions 2026!
Qualification for the 2027 European Championship
By winning the German University Championship, the Hochschulbuam have also secured qualification for the 2027 European Universities Basketball Championship. Next year, the Munich team will represent Germany on the international stage at the EUSA Championship in Zadar, Croatia.
For ZHS Munich, this success is another major highlight in university sports and underlines the team’s strong development. Following their previous title three years ago, the Hochschulbuam have now claimed their second German University Championship in three years.
