Munich Trampoline Team Wins at German Student Championships

15.03.2019

The German Student Championships in trampolining took place on March 3rd in Karlsruhe. After the 3 day event, the team from Munich had a lot to celebrate: the team score landed them the title. Moreover, in Mixed Synchronised the title was won by the athletes from Munich.

Maxi Ferling and Lara Hüninghake in Mixed Synchron won gold by a clear margin

Michael Urbin surprised by how well the day went for him

Helen Fischer and Pascal Martin won the bronze medal with a lot of somersault rotations

Verena Stahleder highly focused during her final performance

127 female athletes took part in the competition. The best female trampoline gymnast from Munich was Helen Fischer (LMU Munich) with 3 strong exercises with which she made 6th place. Verena Stahleder (TU Munich) reached the finals as well and landed a strong 12th place in the overall standings.

3 of the male trampoline gymnasts from Munich were under the best 15 of 91 competing gymnasts and therefore took part in the finals. Michael Urbin (HS Munich), whose strongest sport is normally artistic gymnastics, showed the 3 best exercises of his trampoline carreer and placed an exeptional 7th place. Pascal Martin (LMU Munich) and Maximilian Ferling (LMU Munich) competed over 3rd place - after the gymnasts from Esslingen and Konstanz who finished 1st and 2nd. In the end, Maximilian Ferling won the bronze medal with a lead of only 0,3 points.

But that is not all of it: The brothers Michael and Stephan Urbin (LMU Munich) finished 3rd in synchronised trampoline gymnastics, closely followed by Stephan Haupt (HS Munich) and Daniel Daum (TU Munich) in 4th place.

A great success were the performances of Lara Hüninghake (COE Munich)/Maximilian Ferling & Helen Fischer/Pascal Martin in the category Mixed Synchronised. Lara and Maxi delivered an almost perfect exercise and finished first in an exciting final. Helen Fischer and Pascal Martin, who in the beginning placed 5th, increased the difficulty of their exercises in the final and finished 3rd.

The cherry on top was the team score: The TU Munic team with Laura Grasemann, Daniel Daum, Verena Stahleder and Robin Lindner placed 9th among 37 registered teams. The LMU Munich team with Maximilian Ferling, Helen Fischer, Pascal Martin and Stephan Urbin was crowned winner.

From the point of view of the Munich teams, we had a fantastic weekend. Thank you to our Mom-coach Elisabeth Vogt, who not only organised and put together the team from Munich, but also took care of us in an outstanding way during the trainings and the weekend of competing. Our trainer team was completed by Lara Hüninghake, who won herself, and the newest addition from Graz Gudrun Hayn. Thank you coaches!
