Succes for the ZHS swimming team at the German University Championships

From May 24th to May 26th, 2019, the German University Swimming Championships took place in Würzburg. The ZHS team, made up of 30 athletes, scored very good individual and team results.

The ZHS swimming team

For the second time in a row, the German University Swimming Championships took place at the Wolfgang-Adami-Bad in Würzburg. The 9 women and 21 men competing for the ZHS were able to continue their last year's success and finished 3rd in the overall team results.

The number of participants this year was high because of the opportunity to qualify for the Universiade 2019 in Naples. Nonetheless, some swimmers could hold their ground among the top-class participants and win individual medals. Above all, Felix Richtsfeld (TUM), who took home the title German University Champion 2019 in 200m butterfly and scored 2nd place in 400m freestyle. Marc Schmid (HM) in 200m breaststroke and Philipp Wolf (TUM) in 50m butterfly each scored 3rd place. Moreover, the ZHS relay finished 2nd in 6*50m butterfly mixed and 6*50m backstroke mixed and furthermore 3rd place in 4*100m freestyle male, 4*100m individual medley female, 6*50m breaststroke mixed and 8*50m individual medley mixed.

These medal ranks and even more great individual scores within the top 10 ranks lead to the success in the team rating.
